My brother moved out of town and sold me his 2023 CRV EX-L. The first mod I want to do is install a powered subwoofer! I want to get something compact so it doesn't take so much cargo space. A guy mentioned to get JL Audio but I'm open to know recommendations from owners here who did a similar mod.

oh, that's a nice upgrade, reminds me that I need one too.
For compact power, you can't go wrong with JL Audio (as mentioned), Kicker Hideaway, or Kenwood's compact models. They're designed to fit under seats or in small cargo corners. One big tip for CRVs from me is to disable the ANC for the best sound with an aftermarket sub

Yeah, JL Audio has solid options, like their MicroSub or PowerWedge. But if you're still open to other ones, Kicker Hideaway and Rockford Fosgate PS-8 are also great. They're compact enough to easily fit under a seat, and they're easier on the wallet! @NothingElseMatters's tip on the ANC is also important since it can mess with the subwoofer's signal and can cause some weird buzzing.

I'm not trying to say that this kind of an upgrade is bad, but I will say that a full system upgrade will give you a much better quality. Plus, the placement of the sub will make a massive difference. I'm no expert on this, but I think you might be better talking to one to get the most out of this kind of upgrade.
