Got my first oil change yesterday at around 15K miles on my 2024 HR-V. Thought it will be free (3 free oil changes) but they said the rear differential fluid needed changing too. Cost me $85 for parts and $120 for labor. They rotated my tires but within 5 miles, the low air warning popped up and its too late to go back. The screen was stuck on No Content/Tachometer so i had to mess with it to get it back. Seems like changing the rear differential fluid at 15,000 miles is too soon. Am I wrong??

hey, no sweat, it's normal for a new honda, or most new carss. the diff fluid needs to be replaced at a short interval after buying the car and then you're good to go for lots of miles before the next one

Sounds like it's too early to change your diffrential fluid. most dealerships say you don't need that until much later but some will always try to sell you stuff you don't need

15K miles isn't too early for rear diff fluid if it's in the maintenance schedule, but it's still a surprise cost. As for the tire rotation. I'd check the tire pressure yourself and if it's low, see if the dealer can fix it. The screen glitch sounds like a minor issue, maybe just needs a reset

idk man, it's too early to change all that only after 15K. I hope next time you go to different dealer

It's not too early guys; in fact, every dealership recommends changing the diff fluid shortly after buying the car from them and after that you are good to go for many more miles before the next oil change.

I'd say you're not wrong. It's pretty standard to change the rear differential fluid at 15,000 miles for many Honda models, including the 2024 HR-V. Doing this early on helps to get rid of any metal shavings from the break-in period, which helps keep the system running smoothly.
