Issue with remote hatch on a used 2022 EX-L

My wife got a pre-owned 2022 Honda HR-V EX-L recently and noticed the key fob won't release the tailgate, even though the other buttons respond fine. I found out this year and trim didn't come with a power liftgate. So does the remote still unlock the latch or is that feature disabled by default?

Oh man, I totally dealt with the same issue when I was with my friend's 2022 EX-L! It's funny because that trim doesn't come with the power liftgate, so instead of just hitting a button to pop it open, you've got to do it the old-fashioned way. Just unlock it and then lift it manually. It feels a little like a workout, but hey, that's just how it goes sometimes

Honda missed the mark here, selling a top-trim EX-L without a power liftgate but still including a dummy tailgate button on the fob is borderline misleading. It's like putting a sunroof button in a car without one.

Thank you for confirming this @RoadStar. I wanted to be sure we weren't overlooking a simple feature on my wife's new car. Your comment about it being a workout gave her a good laugh.

This is exactly what was causing our confusion. It's a peculiar design choice to include a button on the remote that serves no purpose for this specific trim level. @Ozaii
